CNC - Computerized Numerically Controlled Machining
In cases where sintered LaserForm A6 tooling is not the correct solution for your application, due to part size, tolerance, geometry, or quantities required, Bastech, Inc. has applied its rapid tooling and SRP (subtractive rapid prototyping) methodology to traditional machined aluminum and P-20 tooling.
Our
rapid tooling capabilities; direct from your 3D data; are coupled with
traditional tool making skills and a responsive fast-paced working environment.
We offer our customers a mix of technologies to produce prototype, bridge
and low-volume molded parts in production intent thermoplastic materials.
Could your company benefit from typical lead time reductions of 35-70%?
Typical lead-time for machined aluminum or P-20 tools ranges from 3 to
6 weeks.
For larger prototype parts where strength and durability are critical, Bastech offers computer numerical control machining (CNC). This rapid prototyping process is enhanced by offering reproductions in acrylic, polycarbonate, nylon, glass-filled nylon, tooling boards, aluminum-filled epoxy and wood. Bastech offers the following CNC options:
- Larger material selection when compared to SLS and SLA
- Tighter tolerances when compared to other rapid prototyping
- Surfaces feature clean, crisp lines without the "stair-stepping" of SLS and SLA
What is CNC?
The abbreviation CNC stands for Computer(ized) Numerical(ly) Control(led), and refers specifically to the computer control of machine tools for the purpose of (repeatedly) manufacturing complex parts in metal as well as other materials, using a program written in a notation conforming to the EIA-274-D standard and commonly called G-code.
Our Haas VMC's have a working envelope of X 500mm, Y 350mm, Z 500mm. Capable of 3 Axis high speed machining with a 20 station automatic tool changer, combined with state of the art cad/cam software this gives us the capacity to rapidly respond to our customers requirements.
Our vertical machining CNC millers are excellent for producing prototypes or tool maiking. They can work from plate stock of up to 1000mm x 500mm 200mm in a variety of materials to include aluminum, steel, tool steels, uddeholm tool steel, stanless steel, brass, phosphor bronze, elkonite, copper, titanium, specialized alloys, graphite or plastics such as nylon, propylenes and ethylenes. Tool boards such as Ren Board (Epoxy tool boards) and PEEK (PolyEther Ether-Ketone) plastic board are also common materials for short run / prototype tooling. Applications include components of automotive and aerospace industries and precision general engineering.
